Khuraira wants to teach everyone the art of makeup wardrobing and help women finally use every drop and last powder grain of makeup properly. A master makeup artist, KHURAIRA (pronounced Hu-rai-ra) opened her first free-standing makeup boutique Jan. 1, 2006, in the heart of Tenafly.
The store, which bears her name as well, is designed as a fun and unique place for women seeking makeup and beauty solutions for all occasions.
In addition to learning about and testing out the latest trends, including airbrush makeup, patrons may bring their old makeup and cosmetic kits and allow Khuraira to makeup wardrobe.
Some of her celebrity clients include Cher, Linda Evans, Mandy Moore, Natalie Cole, Brandy, Paula Abdul and Susan Douglas. Her work with Trista Rehn in the reality television show "The Bachelorette" and on TLC's "A Makeover Story" won her national acclaim.
The idea for starting her own store began after she visited several department store makeup counters. It was then that she realized, "Women want to come to a place with privacy, courtesy and service. A place that is not pushing its own products." However, Khuraira says that the lack of convenience and personalized service is not the only problem with the makeup industry. "I also knew that women deserved better products," she said.
